Adult Children still need love

The Christmas of your Senior year in college is basically your last shot at your family buying you a sh*t ton. As Seniors, though, we are planning our lives post-grad. This is the gateway to the big leagues, and this is the last chance to attempt to get other people to buy you what you need.

Practicality is key.

1. Money

Obvi, the most important. This leads to the most freedom and best chance of being able to buy what you actually need and not another stocking stuffer.

2. Left-overs to take back to school

The longer you can go without eating in the caf or cooking for yourself, the better.

3. Wool Socks

It's the small things.

4. A nice planner

A gift that'll help you maybe get your life together.

5. Gift Cards

Kind of like Money, but your relatives feel less guilty giving it to you. It'll make them feel like they put thought into your gift, but you still get what you want.

6. Sweaters to last a lifetime

Good sweaters are too expensive but paramount to a happy adult life.

7. Cotton Underwear

Honestly, just like the wool socks, it's the small things.

8. Quality Rain boots

Wellies can be super expensive, but a good pair can last a lifetime. A gift that will keep on giving.

9. Money

10. Alcohol

dRelatives know the good stuff and maybe can show you something better than Natty.

11. Netflix, HBO Go, HULU passwords

Bonus points if you just write the passwords on the card holding the money. Honestly, they don't need to even buy you your own account. Just let you use theirs.

12. A NICE winter jacket

No more “drunk jackets” that can just be left at a frat house, I am stocking up for a real life with hopefully enough money for coat checks at the club.

13. Starbucks gift cards

I won't feel so guilty for buying expensive coffee if it’s basically free

14. Money

"Got money on the mind, and my mind on the money"

So quick share your list with your fam, so they don't continue to think you're a child and buy you something silly.

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
