Sending A Message Through Music

There is no doubt that this is an election that will be remembered for generations. In my opinion, it is one of the most crucial elections of our time. With two candidates that are both widely criticized (of course, one more than the other), the emphasis has not been put on who to vote for, but just to vote. It is our privilege and duty as Americans to exercise our right to elect a leader who will continue to build upon the progress we have already made. That can only happen if we vote.

I’m sure each of you have heard countless ads and seen endless commercials about going out and getting your vote on. If I have learned anything about being a millennial, it’s that it is very difficult to grab our attention, especially when it comes to less exciting topics like politics. Campaigners can give us as many fliers as they want, but odds are not all of us young people are going to listen. In the midst of all the election craziness, one college student saw an opportunity to get his message out in the best way that he knew how: through music.

If you walk around any college campus in America, you will see students with their headphones in walking to class and listening to music while they study. Most young people are constantly listening to music, live or otherwise. We respond to the sound and the lyrics. So it was easy for this Central Florida student to realize that if he made a song about the election, more people might actually listen. He utilized his musical talent and the convenience of social media to share his message. And that’s all he wanted to do—share his message. He believes so strongly that one candidate will try to dictate our freedom and send us back in time, disregarding any progress that we have made as a country. With the election coming up in a few days, this is a final plea to show everyone why this candidate cannot be elected. If you are still unsure of who to vote for, or if you are debating whether to even vote at all, watch his music video and share it on as many platforms as possible. I hope it will help you make a decision to not let our country fall into the wrong hands.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
