The most popular phrase during the school year is, "I can't wait until this is over," but now that we are here, the last couple of weeks before the semester comes to a close are bittersweet. College brings an entirely new environment and type of freedom, and after awhile, we start to take our experiences for granted. While we say goodbye to our roommates and our best friends, we are also saying goodbye to a ton of other college perks that are often overlooked.
1. Staying out late
Goodbye, late nights. Hello, curfews.
2. Making all of your meals again
No, the food at college isn't the best but it sure beats having to cook for yourself.
3. Your college besties
Sure, you probably met them in class, but now you're inseparable.
4. Sleeping the entire day
Sleeping until the early afternoon was standard protocol this semester, but it definitely won't be as accepted back home.
5. Being within arms reach of everything you need
Oh, you want a snack? Just inch out of bed a little bit and you'll be inside the fridge. At home, though, you might have to do something absurd, like get up. No thanks.
6. All of your dorm junk that won't fit in your house
Say goodbye to all of the girly string-lights and picture frames. If you're lucky, your room hasn't been transformed into a scrapbooking room for your mom (yet).
7. The atmosphere
We don't have spontaneous flash-mobs, but the environment is incomparable to any experience we could get at home.
8. Opportunities for free food
Nothing is better than getting an email that offers your attendance to an event in exchange for a slice of pizza.
9. The feeling of independence
Leaving home brings an entirely new type of responsibility, and we all love it.
10. No gas fees
Walking everywhere means saying hundreds on gas. Although, I ended up spending just as much on food.
11. Only having to clean a 10x10 room versus an entire house
Cleaning a dorm room is much easier than cleaning your whole house.
While you pack, be sure to reminisce on all this semester has had to offer. And get excited, too, because there are also a ton of perks that come with being back home.
