I love seltzer. Seltzer, for those of you who have an uncultured palette, is carbonated water with a natural flavor, such as lemon, lime, orange, etc. Yes, recently they made Spiked Seltzer which is an alcoholic beverage, but that is not what I grew up with. My family and I are basically seltzer addicts and we always have a dozen cases in our garage so we never run out.
At college, I probably go through 10 dozens of seltzer cans per semester. Call me crazy, but I just love it. There are some people that love it (such as my family) and others that hate it (such as my friends). However, seltzer is personally the best beverage ever and you can never convince me otherwise. Here's why...
1. It is crisp and refreshing
Opening a can of ice cold seltzer is such treat on a hot summer's day. The crisp taste of the bubbles and the citrus flavor make it so refreshing and irresistible. Just describing it makes my mouth water!
2. It is versatile and can be a casual or fancy drink
You can drink seltzer while laying on your bed watching Netflix or have it be served to you in a cocktail at a wedding. Seltzer is versatile and can fit any occasion that you desire! Drink it plain or mix it with juice or alcohol to make the perfect drink.
3. It counts toward your daily intake of water
It is recommended that we drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day. However, it is so hard to drink plain water sometimes. People like to put in sugary drink mixes to make it taste better, but that is not good for you. Instead, try picking up a glass of seltzer which counts towards your daily intake of water and is extremely good for you!
4. There are only two ingredients
Ah yes, the dreaded nutrition label. We all hate to look at this because all we see in the foods and drinks we love is sugar and high fructose corn syrup. However, the only thing you will see on the label of seltzer is two ingredients— carbonated water and natural flavor. It's as simple as that. Seltzer is zero calories and you will have zero regrets drinking it. So go ahead and crack open a cold one!
