We have all had those days where our self confidence is low, we feel unhappy, and we can’t seem to do anything right. This article is just 6 Tips to minimize the number of days that this happens!

1. Always be present in the moment

It is so easy to think about the past and the mistakes you’ve made, and the future and what all you have to prepare for as a college student. It’s impossible to not think about these things, but try to stay in the present. Life is so much more fun this way. When you’re around people you love, just focus on them, not anyone or anything else. It makes everything so much more meaningful. Your happiness increases because you are just doing you, and you’re no longer stressing yourself out every five seconds.

2. Remember you’re never a mistake

You were born for a reason! Never forget that. Remind yourself everyday of this. It helps remember that you have a purpose in life and you are going to achieve it! Life may seem purposeless at points, but those are the times that you need to be strongest and say “hey, you’re amazing. You were born to do something great”.

3. Don’t be sorry for being you

Not everyone is going to like you. It’s impossible. You will never please everybody, so don’t be sorry for being you! People will hate, and if people aren’t hating, you ain’t doing something right!! You should never change who you are for someone else. If they want you to change, or you can’t be yourself around them, they aren’t meant to be in your life. People are going to walk in out of your life, but YOU will be the one always there for yourself. You are you and no one and change that.

4. Be happy in the skin you’re in

It’s always easy to compare yourself to others. I CONSTANTLY do this. “Wow look at her body”, “wow she is perfect”, “why can’t I look like that” are just some of the statements that go through my mind. This is TERRIBLE for your confidence. It’s so important to be comfortable in your own skin. You are beautiful, you are kind, you are important. Repeat this to yourself every time you even think about comparing yourself to anyone else. It’s so easy to do and it will make you feel comfortable with yourself again!

5. How you doing good lookin’?

Wake up, go shower, get dressed, and point your fingers at yourself through the mirror, and say, “how you doin’?”. If you’ve seen the show Friends, you’ll know that Joey Tribiani can make anyone smile with this. No matter what mood you wake up in, it always makes you feel good. Your mood will instantly go up because you just boosted your self confidence a bit.

6. Take time to yourself

It is important to always make time for yourself. With college classes and the usually stress of life it is hard to remember to take care of yourself. It’s easy to push it off and always want to be with your friends or focusing on classes. Take at least an hour to lay on your bed and think, paint your nails, do your makeup, binge watch Netflix or anything that makes you happy. It makes a world of a difference. It allows you to think and breathe and to relax without having anything thrown at you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
