You are more. You are more than your GPA, more than the things people say. You are more than your failures or the times when others don’t see your value. You are more than those moments when you feel like you can’t do anything right. Nowadays it’s so easy to believe that we are only defined by the things we achieve. We compare ourselves to others and somehow believe that we aren’t good enough. Why is it that it's so much easier to find value in others but not in ourselves? Are we truly so blind to the incredible and beautiful person looking back at us in the mirror?
I remember seeing someone I loved, who was such an amazing person, tear themselves down because of a rejection. I felt my heart breaking at seeing her cry. She put all her self-worth into something and when it fell apart so did she. She couldn’t see past it and became so angry and upset that she couldn't see who she really was. Sometimes we need the perspective of others to help us not to have such tunnel vision about ourselves.
So for those days when you feel like nothing matters remember your worth. You are not defined by what you do but rather who you are. We were all created as beautifully unique individuals with different talents and gifts. As corny as it sounds our failures and times when we feel low only make us stronger. Failure and rejection is an unfortunate part of life but getting up and moving forward is what makes us strong. You are more. You are more than the worst thing you've ever done or those times where every door slams in your face. You are more.
