5 Ways to "Treat Yo' Self" That You Won't Feel Guilty About After

We all feel like we deserve a little self-love every once in a while, but sometimes we can make ourselves feel guilty about it later on.

5 Ways to "Treat Yo' Self" That You Won't Feel Guilty About After

Like most college students, money is one of my biggest worries. Putting gas in my car and grocery shopping are among some of my most dreaded responsibilities. Spending money is a hard thing for me to do when I am constantly having to calculate bills or unforeseen costs that may pop up. Although, there are some times I feel like I deserve to splurge on myself just a little bit, like after a particularly hard test or a gruesome study session. However, I always seem to find myself feeling guilty just a couple of hours later. Did I really need to spend $5 on that face mask? Did I really need to go to Dunkin' Donuts instead of eating the snacks I already had? To avoid this, I have found a few ways to treat myself that are guilt-free.

Take a day off.

If you can't convince yourself to take an entire day off, take a few hours for yourself. Read, journal, or just spend some quiet time with yourself.

Shamelessly watch five episodes of Supernatural in a row. Maybe more, I don’t judge.

This is my personal go-to way to treat myself. I love sitting and watching Supernatural after a tough shift at work. It's a way to throw myself into another world where I have to worry about the Apocalypse, instead of the rude customer I dealt with earlier.

Go to bed early.

Switching up your routine to get more rest is a huge game-changer for me. I feel better, think better, and work better with more sleep. You might think it's a bit lame, but give it a shot!

Have a Girls’ Night.

Stop telling yourself you always have to go out and try to spend a night in! Cards, board games, and a Netflix marathon are all free ways to include your friends when treating yourself. After finals week or a week where you all have barely had time to see each other, these nights are especially cherished.

Go on a YouTube binge.

I would strongly recommend some of my favorite YouTubers to watch when I want to turn my brain off - Kian and Jc, Levi Bernhardt, Cody Ko, and Kurtis Conner. These creators make content that is not meant to be serious. You can watch a video, have a laugh, and go on to the next. The perfect way to relax after a long day.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
