Seeing Your Favorite Artist Live

An important moment everyone, especially a music lover, should experience in their lifetime is seeing their favorite band or artist perform live. I've been fortunate enough to see almost all of my favorite bands perform live, and I remember the first (and second) time I saw my favorite band perform live. This was one of the happiest moments I've ever had. When I saw my favorite band, Mayday Parade, perform I was overwhelmed with happiness.

You spend your life listening to this band that created music that brings so many emotions to you. Some songs bring back memories, some give you feelings of happiness, of sadness, or of motivation. Overall, these musical creators bring this emotional entertainment to you everyday. You dream of being able to see them perform one day.

Your favorite band announces they're going on tour this spring, and it's with another band you like! You're so excited and you anxiously check to see the venues they're going to be playing at this tour. You scan the list and see a venue not far from where you live! You tell your friend who also loves this band and you purchase tickets immediately, anxious for these days to fly by until you can finally watch them perform.

It's finally the day of the show, you've picked out your outfit, you've discussed all the details with your friends, and you're finally getting to go see your favorite band perform! You plan to be in the front row, singing along to all of their songs and having the time of your life.

You're close to the from row, crammed into the audience, so close you can feel the heat from each other's bodies causing you to sweat. You don't care about being too warm and sweating, you're dancing to the opening bands and waiting for the main artist to take the stage.

They take the stage and start off with one of your favorite songs, you're singing along and dancing, feeling the emotions you feel every time you listen to the song, only stronger. You're actually seeing them in front of your eyes. They're real human beings standing before you, not just voices through your headphones. It's almost surreal. You're overwhelmed with excitement and happiness.

They leave the stage. The concert is over. That's it. The moment you've been so excited over is gone so quick, and while you enjoyed every second of it, you wish it was longer. You may stop by the merchandise table and pic up a shirt, but then you have to go home. You post some pictures on Instagram about the fun time you had so that you, and everyone else, can see this moment.

Days have passed and you have post-concert sadness, you watch your videos you took on your phone and relive the fun moments you had. You patiently wait for them to come back to your city so you can see them again.

This is what my process of seeing my favorite band was like for the first time, and I know many people can relate to the same experiences and emotions. It's one of the most memorable and exciting moments you'll ever experience. Music is always so much better and more exciting live. Everyone must see their favorite band or artist perform live at least once.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
