After seeing the Broadway production of Mean Girls in Cleveland, I think all musical and Mean Girls fans should see it.
1. The talent

With the tour of Mean Girls being a Broadway cast, the talent is unmatched. The cast members never missed a beat or pitch and gave me chills every single song. I left with a euphoric rush from listening to their voices, but I also left feeling a little sad that I don't have such breathtaking talent. Something encouraging from the show, however, is that Mariah Rose Faith, or Regina George, got the audition when she was discovered on YouTube!
2. The choreography

As a dancer, I sometimes leave musicals disappointed in what should be big dance numbers. They are not always as overwhelming as they should be. I did not feel this way at all about Mean Girls. All the dance numbers were the perfect amount of exciting and fun. They even danced with school desks! Not to mention that every good musical needs a tap number, and the tap number in Mean Girls was easily my favorite part of the whole show.
3. The music
I went to see the show with my roommate because we listened to songs from the show all semester. Now that the show is over, I think that I have probably listened to the whole show around 10 times in less than two days, and yet every time the music still gets better. The songs are original, fun, and catchy!
4. The set

Have you ever gone to see a show when you are a performer in another, and you experience extreme set envy? Well, as someone who was in high school musical productions, I absolutely had set envy! The set was built up of large rectangular screens all over the back of the stage where the projection changed with each scene. And in the beginning, the projection changed to show different excerpts from the burn book. Not to mention that they effectively ran Regina George over with a bus!
5. Mary Kate Morrissey and Eric Huffman!
Morrissey plays Janis, and Huffman plays Damian, the most iconic duo to ever hit the stage. Their dynamic and energy were spot on and the most impressive of the entire show. I could have listened to them sing for the whole show and then some and was thrilled that they narrated the show.
At the end of the day, I would absolutely go see Mean Girls again and recommend that if you can go, go! The tour goes into August, so there are plenty of opportunities to catch it. But I must say that it was more adult than the film and more so than I was expecting, so beware of the age group accompanying you.
