Do we take Life for Granted?

Seconds We Take For Granted
JERMEAN TABAR

Seconds. They all add up to something. Memories, moments, visions, passions, ideas. These all account for seconds within our lives that we truly take for granted. When we begin our day at work, school, etc.. we are constantly looking at that clock, watching the seconds go by, hoping for it to turn to that time that we are deemed "free" from our work. When does a human look at a clock and cherish each one of those seconds. As that clock keeps moving forward, time is moving along with it, whether it be slowly or quickly or however your mind chooses to perceive it. Each second should be cherished like the last one before it because until we learn to cherish each and every little thing in life, we aren't living life to its full potential.

As I look around, I am a victim to this exact thing. I take life for granted, mainly by forgetting about the complexity and the beauty that life has to offer. We, as humans, have almost made life into something that we only want to brag about. We have made seconds invaluable, for those seconds don't matter unless you are doing something that is cherished by others. Social media has only allowed us to share the "amazing" things that happen in our life, as if those are the only cherished moments in life. I have fallen victim to this exact thought over and over again. I believed that life wasn't truly life unless I was "adventuring". But, from the second you are waking up, to the second you are with your best friends, family, brothers, sisters or enjoying dinner, lunch, work, school, etc.. we must learn to cherish each and every factor in our life to truly enjoy life's full potential. Until we don't cherish every single second, are we really living life?

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help.
