I heard what you did last night. You got wasted and got into a fist fight. I also heard you got high the other day and took the wise words of the joint to make a mayonnaise, pickle, and jelly sandwich. And I also heard about the girl you took home. You rolled around with her all night and told her to leave as soon as you were done. You are a catch. You own the night. You're the center of attention when it comes to a good time. But when that time is over, you vanish. You vanish, not into the walls or into the starry-night sky, but into nowhere. It's as if you don’t exist. I ask your friends about you. I ask how you’re doing. But all I get is a shrug or an "I don't know." I don’t hear anything else about you until the next party or when you break another girl's heart.
You're like Peter Pan. You live in the wild adventurous Neverland. You fight pirates, collect gold, make merry with the Lost Boys, and fly high into the sky with Tinkerbell by your side. And once in a blue moon you visit the aged homes of England and seduce a Wendy Darling to come back home with you. You tell her all the magical things that you can make her feel. You tell her she doesn't have to grow up. You can take away the pains of adulthood. For that one night she will fight Captain Hook and his crew. For that one night, she will believe in fairies, flying far and wide. For that one night, she will smoke and dance with the Native Americans. For the first time, life will just stop. But eventually, Wendy will become weary and dream of home. She’ll want to go back to England because she knows not growing up is not living, but only existing. Of course, Wendy'll try to take you back with her. She fell under your spell. How could she not? But you're a stubborn boy. So she leaves, broken-hearted. Her only memory of you is trying to forget. But, she’ll never forget. You gave her an experience of a life time. She’s angry, hurt and sad all at once. Not only did you rip out her heart, but you smashed it. And there it lies in the bed where you both had once lain. She doesn’t think she’ll ever get over you. To her, time is just morphine. Just like the men in her life. And, where are you? You are far, far away. Living the same old hedonistic life of fighting pirates, making merry with the lost boys, and romancing Tiger Lillies. But I guess it truly is her fault I guess. How dare she fall in love with the man in the star?
