For many college students, this is the start of their second semester. Come the first week of college, there will also come another thing that we must keep up with until the end of the semester: the syllabus.
The syllabus is something that can either help or hurt us in the long run when it comes to assignments, quizzes or tests. They are like the schedule and they tell us when assignments are due or when quizzes are coming our way. The only good thing about the first week of any semester is that the professors don't start you off with a lot of work, but there are some professors that may sign some type of work for you to do; but not enough that it could already start you stressing out about the class. It basically should be a part of your life and should be checked daily just in case you don't write anything in your planner.
So far with me, all of my professors gave me a very good first impression, so that's one thing I can knock off my list for my evaluation of should I stay in this class or not. Another good thing about this semester is my schedule, even though I don't have breaks in between classes anymore. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays my day lasts from 9 am to 11:50 am while Tuesdays and Thursdays my day is from 9a m to 11:45 am. While having all that time to myself to do whatever I want is a good thing, it can also be a bad thing for me as well.
Every college student can admit this, procrastination is real and it will affect all of us at different times and different places. For some, it's something that they had for a long time and they are working on getting rid of or decreasing it. While for others, it's something very new to them because they are not used to all of this free time because they were probably occupied a lot in high school with homework, clubs, a possible job and activities. I'm a mixture of both. While I didn't have a lot of time in high school to procrastinate because I had a 9 hour school day plus an extra 2 hours of extra curricular activities, having free time everyday to do anything is still kind of new to me. Even though many people had said that if you can manage your time better, you can decrease the amount of time you procrastinate on things, but time management just doesn't work for everyone. Give it time and it will. For me, it's going to take some time, but I have improved from first semester.
If I had a goal for this semester, I would say my goal is to get a GPA that's higher than a 3.0 and maybe manage more of my writing time so I can have time to write than to hold off homework for a few minutes to jot down some ideas. Anyway, I hope everyone is having a good start to their second semester!
