So when you hear someone say "Monday" you probably start to get a slight headache, but in all reality most Mondays aren't really as bad as we make them out to be, right? Well, I hope of the four we typically get a month, at least one of yours is decent! The reason I decided to pick Monday for this analogy is because we are guilty of being a little over-dramatic about a lot of really small issues we think we have. My last, previous article touched on this subject some, but I believe the reason I didn't have enough to babble on about it last week was because the Lord was saving all of it for this week; he has sense a humor, that guy!
Crazy to think he already knew I was going to write about all of this, isn't it? The other thing that's kind of crazy is how I manage to screw up my screw ups and He still loves me and shows me His grace (1 Peter 5:10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you). I still do not understand why I receive this because I know I am undeserving of His love, His grace, His forgiveness, but I, with a humble heart, am so grateful. Sometimes all we need to do is take a short five minutes and thank Him for all he has done for us; it's easy to forget. We get all caught up in our lives, and let me guess: you're busy? Hey, me too! But if I can make enough time to lay in my bed for an hour while I fall asleep and scroll through Instagram, I can say a prayer over my previous day, for family, friends, and the day to come which He is blessing me with. This isn't a "call out the Christians" speech. I don't really call myself a "Christian" anyways, but more just a reminder of how truly amazing the man upstairs is.
Prayer.
Not a difficult word for us to pronounce, but for some reason, I was always so afraid of the word and everything I thought went with it. I despised being picked to say prayer at dinner (I know I just went on a rant about how we can always make time for prayer, so come on, catch up, this is one of those flashbacks). I guess I thought I had to recite all the ingredients in the broccoli casserole, and hope I didn't say something silly! No, I just never knew what I was supposed to say, which, when I look back and think about it, is absolutely ridiculous. You don't write up a script before you call your friend to tell them you're running five minutes late (to all of my friends: I knew you would understand because I am always early, and you all are always late), so why do we act like a prayer is any different? It's the best lifetime-rate guaranteed on a hands-free device that I've ever heard of: call 24/7, lines always open for advice, love and you don't have to listen to any of Beethoven's Symphonies because you are never put on hold! No excuses at this point. Think of just about anything and there's a great prayer. Why? Because He is really listening, and there's no Prayer Prime, so don't expect your problems to be gone, or new TV to be on your doorstep the next day, but do expect that He will answer your prayer.
I find it really hard to deliver all of the things I feel like I was supposed to share with you this week, but find something else to do in the time being and I will spill some more rad information next week! Is this too bloggish? Is that a word? Maybe I need to move over to a blog. Well, anyways, thank you all for reading, and I'm not sure what day it will be when you see this, but have a wonderful week!
P.S. Try not to scream at the lady on headset at CFA when its 10:36 a.m. and you don't get your chicken biscuit. Just get there earlier! It will be OK.
