The Season of P.O.T.H.

The Season of P.O.T.H.

Welcome to March, debatably the biggest, jam-packed month for fraternities and sororities. Although big/little reveals may be different weeks and date parties may have different themes, one thing remains the same: P.O.T.H. And for those of you who are wondering what this even stands for, it's Putting On The Hits. For those of you who are still unaware of what this is, it's the largest philanthropy event held on campus by Delta Zeta.

What is so intriguing about P.O.T.H you might ask? Well, almost every sorority and fraternity on Miami University's campus participates in the philanthropy for St. Rita's School for the Deaf. Each new pledge class creates a dance (most are themed) which are performed to a list of songs chosen by the fraternity or sorority. After a very VERY entertaining night, a winner is chosen: one from the fraternities and one from the sororities.

As a member of Delta Zeta, I experienced P.O.T.H. last year and have to say it was one of the most memorable nights of spring semester. The dances were put together well and even hysterical at times. But the most memorable part of the night was when the students from St. Rita's performed on stage. You could tell that the students loved what they do and loved every minute on that stage. And we loved watching them.

The sign for "clapping" is to wave your hands. In that moment, everyone in the audience started standing and waving their hands while they were on stage performing.

Most of the fraternities and sororities even try to incorporate sign language into their performances for the kids from St. Rita's.

Whether you're a member of Greek life or not, P.O.T.H. is something definitely worth going to, especially when you get to watch your friends either act super serious dancing, or make complete fools of themselves.

*P.O.T.H. is Wednesday March 11, 2015 at 7 p.m.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.
