I don’t know if it is just me, but the winter season feels like it is at its coldest and most brutal in the months immediately preceding the springtime. I love winter as much as the next person, but after the holiday season ends, the cold weather starts to grate on my nerves. After this nasty winter, spring can’t come any faster! Here are the five things that I’m most excited about for the coming spring.
1. Warmth
Like I said before, this winter was (and is) absolutely terrible! Maybe it’s because I’ve lived in South Jersey all of my life before going up north for school, but I don’t think I will ever be able to get used to the extreme cold. I’m not even a fan of being hot, but it sure beats being so cold that your body starts to feel numb (this happens to me every day). The spring is warm, breezy, and vibrant; I’ll take that any day over the brutally cold winter we’re experiencing right now.
2. Spring activities
The period between the holidays and springtime is usually really boring and dreary for me. Before March comes around, I usually don’t have much to look forward to other than spring break. But once break comes around, there’s a lot of different things to look forward to. Usually, most days during break consist of me staying at home and watching Netflix. But I plan on doing a lot more for this break, like going to museums, seeing shows, and going on walks. During the winter, honestly, I barely want to leave my room since it is so dark and cold out.
3. Clothes
I find it difficult to dress how I want during the winter since I have to make sure what I’m wearing is appropriate for the weather. Even though you could argue the same problem exists in the spring/summertime, it’s not as big of a deal, since I don’t mind being a little hot. However, I do mind being in the blistering cold! It’s so much easier to dress when you don’t have to worry about being obliterated by how cold it is outside.
4. Finally... Summer!
Since summer comes right after spring, I can’t help but associate it with the season in my mind. This has been a really great school year, but honestly, I can’t wait for summer to start. Not only do I not have to worry about schoolwork, but it’s really refreshing to be able to spend time with my family and friends from home for a few months. As much as I love school, there’s nothing like being back at home in the town that you grew up in.
