Maybe you're the one on your bed right now, scrolling through social media. Maybe you're the one about to head out with a group of friends; maybe you're the one with the least likes on Instagram. Maybe you're the one with a broken family, or the "weird" one of the school. To the ones searching...
You're searching for something to grasp. Your mind is running with thoughts of: "Is this all there is?", "Why am I even here?", "What is my purpose in life?", "Is there really something out there that could have had a purpose for this world?". We all wonder these things at one point in our lives, a lot of times it's the young teens and adults. Growing up, we are nurtured and told how to act and believe. As we get older, that influence starts to fade away. We are then left to decide for ourselves. There is a reason that we question the existence of something bigger than us. We were created to seek and find the one that is out there; He is actually closer than you would believe. The one is Jesus.
All are seeking but do not always find. One is not a follower of Jesus simply because they go to church, or because their parents are devoted Christians. Jesus told His followers:
"But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you." (Matthew 6:6).
So many go looking for that "thing", that answer, that love, that fulfillment, thinking that it's found in the church. In fact, your biggest encounters with Jesus will be in your special space that only you and Jesus can be. A lot don't know this. They go to church and expect to be filled there. It is a place to go to learn more about Him and be built up by others, but there's SO MUCH MORE! Because they don't find their "thing" there; they just skip Jesus and keep looking. The church should hunger you to go deeper and keep seeking, keep knocking, asking. Those that have had an encounter with God will never denied it. Once you encounter this amazing Jesus, your life will never be the same. Never.
James 1:11 - For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat then it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich also will fade away in his pursuits.
Anything that you chase to try and feel loved, belonging, whole, alive, it will never be enough. There are many of you reading this that are pursuing things that are not pursuing you. Jesus has been pursuing you since the day you were born. You may have pushed this whole Jesus thing aside because all your life you've had others tell you who He is and that person failed you. Let Jesus come to you and show you Himself; who He is. He is waiting. He loves you, created you, and has a plan for your life. He will never leave you. He has never nor will He ever lie.
So, to the one reading this, you didn't come to this article by accident; think about how many there are and you chose this one. Jesus is ready to show you a whole new world, and is sorry for the way others have represented Him.
