Since I could remember I have always been a picky eater and was completely stubborn to any idea of trying something new. Once I got to college I started to try to go out of my comfort zone and I was surprised at how much I was actually missing out on. My diet consisted of french fries and chicken tenders and I was completely happy with that. But there's a lot of seafood I wish I had known about.
Here are the 10 most safe tasting seafood for picky eaters.
1. Mahi Mahi (Dolphinfish)
Before you say "Oh my god, she's eating a dolphin" no it's not Flipper, it's a fish. This is totally not fishy and this fish was one of the first seafood I had ever tasted! It's not too fishy and I honestly can't get enough of it!
2. Grouper
Grouper was the second fish I ever tried and this one is a bit of a sweeter fish. The favorite way I like it prepared is blackened or fried!
3. Snapper
In all honesty, this may be one of my favorite fish and it's great prepared anyway. This was one of the newer fish I have tried and I don't regret it at all.
4. Cobia
You can find cobia at some high-end fish restaurants or sometimes at little restaurants. It's pretty good and it's really great blackened or seasoned accordingly.
5. Tripletail
This fish won't be at any restaurant for you but if you ever get a chance to eat this fish, I highly recommend it. It's amazing to eat fried or even blackened.
6. Fried shrimp
I don't personally like shrimp, but if it's fried I will eat it. If you're a picky eater like me you won't like the texture of regular shrimp so you'll need it fried.
7. Redfish
This fish you may see at a high-end restaurant or at a seafood restaurant where redfish are known. This fish is outstanding when it is blackened or seared and it's the least fishy-fish I know of.
8. Snook
This fish is well-known, especially in southwest Florida. Snook season is looked forward to because snook is a very good fish to eat.
9. Lobster
If you're a picky eater and you don't like texture I would recommend this species in mac and cheese. This is the best way to eat it in my opinion.
10. Scallops
I would recommend this wrapped in bacon because it hides the texture! It's the best of both worlds.
