Deep Sea Fishing Is Significantly Better Than Pier Fishing

You have probably gone on a fishing trip to a pier, but have you ever gotten on a boat miles from the shore and fished? The experience is completely different and way better than pier fishing.

My dad and I went to Sandestin, Florida at last weekend on a fishing trip. Our plan was to stay there for two days. The first day we went fishing on the famous Okaloosa Fishing Pier to do pier fishing, and on the second day, we decided to go on a deep sea fishing trip.

Now while we were pier fishing, there was little to no action. A fish would bite our bait like once every 30 minutes or so. So the bulk of our pier fishing experience was very boring and required lots and lots of patience. Now 30 minutes may not sound like a lot, but when you are out on a pier without your phone and you are just staring at the ocean, 30 minutes can feel like days. But once you do get a fish bite, it is worth the wait, since reeling a fish in is just super exciting. During the 3 hours, we were on the pier, we caught about 7 fish. The problem was the fish were mostly too small for us, so we gave them away to people on the pier since some of them use small fish as bait to catch big fish.

The next day, we woke up at 5 in the morning to get to the boat for our deep fishing trip on time. I was very tired but I was excited for what was in store for us for the day. I have never been on a deep sea fishing trip before in my life, so I was ready to embark on this journey. We got on the boat and rode out into the ocean for like a good hour, and we got to our first stop. Now the bait bucket they gave us include cut up squid and fish, so blood was all over the bucket, and we needed to get our hands dirty to catch some fish.

Believe me when I say this but once you attach your bait to the hooks and toss your line into the water, a fish will instantly bite your hook. I was surprised I did not need to wait for a fish to bite my bait, and I would reel my line back in and catch fish so quickly. And I have to say it was the most fun I have had fishing because the fish would continually bite. And after some time, the boat would move to the next stop for us to fish again, and we would catch all these big fish with almost no wait.

By the end of the trip, my dad and I caught almost 20 fish, which was the most fish we have ever caught on a fishing trip. I would most definitely go on a deep sea fishing trip again since it is so exhilarating with the amount of fish you can catch. One thing I recommend is that you take seasick medicine. My dad and I made sure we took some, and we both did not feel a single bit of nausea throughout the trip. I feel that deep sea fishing requires way more involvement than pier fishing, which is why I feel that deep sea fishing is significantly better than pier fishing.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
