9 Times 'Scream Queens' Got Sorority Life Right

And you thought it was just another cliché sorority show.

So you may or may not have watched Scream Queens, the slightly cringe-worthy TV show about sorority girls being murdered and whatnot. Between the overly gruesome scenes filled with fake blood and the sorority cliches being thrown left and right, a lot of people found it hard to watch. I, on the other hand, found it absolutely hilarious. From the overdramatic screams to the fabulous outfits, I welcomed every episode. And although Scream Queens can seem like a little much, here are all the times it actually got sorority life right.

1. If we were being really honest about chapter

I'm not sorry to start out here, but I'm just being perfectly honest. Some nights, chapter lasts two hours, and there is a never ending stream of announcements that no one really cares about. Of course, none of us would actually ever say that out loud, but we're definitely all thinking it when they remind us for the tenth time that the optional scholarship workshop is this weekend. Because to be honest, I'm definitely not going.

2. When someone mentions the best idea ever at chapter

Whether it's the coolest sisterhood event idea you've ever heard of or the most lit swap theme you could've ever imagined, you have one thought - this has GOT to happen. You don't care how or when, but you know it will be the main social event on your calendar. Well, besides formal anyway.

3. When you get called into standards

No, you say. That doesn't really look like me dancing on an elevated surface in that video. You're trying your best to get out of the trouble you've gotten yourself into. I'm sure we could all take the advice of Old Row here - "Admit Nothing, Deny Everything".

4. How you look when the swap is boring

You were so hype for this specific theme with this awesome frat. It's finally time to go to the bar that the swap is being held at, but when you get there, it could not be more lame. Your outfit didn't turn out quite the way you wanted it to, and the guys are all talking to themselves. So you just stand in the corner with your closest sisters and pout it out until the busses start running back to the house.

5. On the other hand...

You go to a swap, and you meet a really great guy, and you exchange snaps (because who deals with phone numbers anymore?). The next thing you know, he's sending you a message asking if you want to go to a date party with him in three days - and there's only one answer to that question. YES!

6. When formal finally rolls around

You've had your dress picked out for a year and your date picked out for a week, and you couldn't be more excited. You're dressed to the 9's, and honestly, this may be the most important function of the whole year.

7. After a long night and you just want to go get food with your sister friends

You've had a rough night/week/semester, and you just want to sit down and vent and smash on some pizza - especially here at Ole Miss, where Papa John's is open until 3 in the morning. So many times, sorority girls have the stigma of never eating to stay thin, but in all honesty, all we do is eat. Ice cream, pizza, cookies - basically all the food.

8. When you hear someone talking smack about your girls

This one kind of speaks for itself. Girl groups are super close-knit, and you don't mess with someone's girl group. Rivalries can exist in the srat world we live in, and this is probably the most common response.

9. When you know what sisterhood really means

Okay, yeah, Chanel was definitely not the best person, but she has the right idea. Being a sister is all about being a "kind and devoted and loving friend to all". Even on days when you hate everyone, you love your sisters and what you all stand for as a sisterhood. You strive to uphold the values of your sorority and support one another through thick and thin. So, I think this is the best Scream Queens quote (out of context anyway).

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
