In (late) honor of the film's release 8 years ago, let's talk about why everyone should see this movie. Before I get fully into, though, I should add that there are a few things in the movie that I'm not super into but every movie has weak points.
It's super freakin' quotable.
GiphyOne of the most memorable lines in the entire movie is "I'm in lesbians with you" but that's not the best one. There are so many other quotes - this probably shouldn't have been my first point - like, "pirates are in this year?" and "amzon.ca, what's the website for that?" As well as "The future? Like, with jetpacks?" I should really stop now because I can go all night.
It's literally star packed
GiphyIn addition to Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (who is absolute girl crush material btw), this movie also has Pre-Captain America Chris Evans, Pre-Captain Marvel Brie Larson, Jason Shwartzman, Anna Kendrick, Alison Pill, Aubrey Plaza, and Pre-Parenthood Mae Whitman to start off. You may want to keep the iMDB page for this movie open because you'll be saying "I know that actor" a LOT.
It's actually relatable
GiphyScott Pilgrim vs The World was one of the first movies I watched and couldn't get enough of. I related so hard to certain scenes so much that I watched the movie TWICE in a five-hour period.
It's Just Funny
GiphyFor being a "romantic" movie, Scott Pilgrim vs The World is actually really freakin' funny. The scene above is literally one of my favorite scenes in any movie ever just because of the delivery.
The soundtrack is the best. Ever.
In addition to being relatable and funny and all around awesome, the soundtrack and musical scenes make this movie super well-rounded.
It Has Tons of Geeky References
GiphyIn addition to everything previously stated, the amount of geeky references in this movie is actually astounding. There are references to Street Fighter 2 and a game that's similar to Dance Dance Revolution to name a couple.
It's Just Pure Entertainment Gold.
GiphyWatch the movie once and you'll soon find yourself quoting it in your everyday life or at least humming some of the songs to yourself. It's a goldmine of references and relatable characters and music that'll be stuck in your ears for weeks to come. Just watch it.
