Although it's only the beginning of the semester, chances are you've heard a science major complain around campus.
My major is so hard.
We've spent so much time in lab.
We already have so much studying to do.
Sometimes it seems like Science Majors will not let you hear the end of how hard their majors are. But here's the thing. Why do Science Majors do it if they hate it?
To better understand this, here is a look into a day in the life of a Science Major.
1. "I could use some more mitochondrion in my cells today."
The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, people. Science.
2. "I don't think I need to study before today's lecture."
There's a lot of fascinating stuff that explains the world around us, and science majors are able to learn it all.
3. "Do these goggles make me look smart?"
Maybe if I put on my lab goggles all the answers will come to me.
4. "I love labs."
Sometimes, really cool things can happen in the laboratory.
5. "Where does all the time go?"
For the love of science.
6. "The struggle is real right now."
3 quizzes, 2 exams, a lab report, and a presentation all in one week? Excuse me, I need to see a doctor.
7. "I hate labs."
Spending 3-4 hours in lab just to mix solutions and watch them boil can seem counterproductive. Think of how many episodes of Grey's Anatomy I could watch instead.
8. "I actually look forward to our Wednesday study sessions."
Good company, good food, and good learning, makes for a very good day.
9. "I couldn't imagine doing anything else."
At the end of the day, we wouldn't know where we'd be without science. Literally.
