A.V.I.D
What does A.V.I.D stand for? Advancement Via Individual Determination. What does A.V.I.D help create? A.V.I.D has helped students such as myself to pave a path to college through helping each other as a community, influencing the idea of study groups through tutorials in many subjects, such as math, and has helped students to achieve greatness through their schoolwork.
A.V.I.D does not just consist of “notorious” binder checks, which are a tool for organization, but it consists of discovering who you are within your school, community, and home. As an alumna of the A.V.I.D program at Schurr High School in Montebello, California, I decided to visit the halls of my high school once more to shine the light on some outstanding A.V.I.D seniors.
