School's Out For The Summer

Goodbye School, Hello Summer!

School's Out For The Summer

Summer is finally here! It's time to put away the textbooks notebooks, and pencils, and get out the bathing suits, beach towels, and sunscreen! School being out means we get to return to the place we call home. For some, it is a big city, but for others, it is a small town. Regardless of where you are from, you get to return to that place. Returning home is an exciting time, maybe you have friends to look forward to at home, maybe you have a pet that you can't wait to see, or maybe you just want to go home and relax. As much as we all like being away at school, summer gives us a little break to clear our heads and go on a few adventures.

Summer is a time to get together with friends and family. A time for cookouts. A time for the beach and most definitely a time to be carefree. Schools out and that means homework is done, there are no more tests to study for (for now), and there are no campus activities to attend. Instead, we can fill our time with beach trips, time outdoors, and maybe even putting in a few hours at that summer job or internship you just landed. Whatever it may be, summer is a time to enjoy. Even though school is out, as college students, we are never free. Sometimes it feels like Busy is our middle name. For most it probably is. Just because it's summer we still fill our days, the only difference is we have more choice and we can decide what we want our days to be filled with!

Whatever it may be, make some time for yourself this summer. Going to school doesn't allow us much time to ourselves and the summer was made for you. The summer is your time to explore, your time to adventure, and your time to relax. Fill your days with fun. Try to do something different every day. Regardless of what it is, enjoy your summer!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
