Happy Summer! Three months of freedom! (or work or school or whatever you're doing!)
Summer is the time to make mistakes, make some money and make some lasting memories. In May, summer feels like forever. You still got money in your wallet and garage parties are still fun, but as the months go by summer will quickly fade and the "no worries" days will be over.
Everyone celebrates their summer differently, whether it is babysitting, interning, working, learning, concerting or smoking, everyone is living it up in someway.
Beyond all the different cities and paths that we all go on during summertime, here is the summer schedule that everyone will do at some point
1. Checking your grades every single day.
You just finished finals and you want to know what the hell you got! You will complain and bitch about how slow teachers grade and most likely send them a couple emails or so in the beginning. I usually check twice, three, even four times a day and it is completely acceptable.
2. Catch up with high school friends.
No matter how many years go by or the quantity of friends you still talk to, you will always connect with the people who share the same hometown and high school as you. Either grabbing lunch at some salad place, or in a basement or garage party, you will always consider these people to be your home friends.
3. Be lazy with your pet (and usually snapchat it).
Your pet is truly your BFF. Being in college and separated from your fury friend is hard! What's better than watching an old episode of Family Fued in your PJs with your dog laying on top of you?! Obviously snap chat story worthy. (Shoutout to Colbie and Snickers)
4. Go to a baseball game.
Whether you hop on the bandwagon or are a true fan, I guarantee, you will attend a baseball game over the summer. With them being almost every day and tickets being so cheap, this is a great way to spend those summer nights. Tip: don't question what's in the hotdog, and always ALWAYS get a beer. (or just get drunk on the train going there, works like a charm)
5. Go to a country concert.
Whether you hate it or you love it, there's nothing that screams summer more than getting cheap lawn seats sippin' on a Mike's Hard, listening to some good ol' country music. And the cowboys aren't half bad to look at either!
6. Go out Downtown in your city.
Everyone should have their change of scenery in the night or bar life from their typical college bar that they go to every weekend. And plus you finally are old enough and legal to go out downtown. Only bad part is you currently have the highest tolerance for alcohol at the beginning of summer....#college
7. Get on your parents nerves--vise versa.
Oh yeah this will definitely happen more than once this summer. The classic parent fight. You will undoubtedly come home too late (or too drunk), not come home at all or not get that job that you, they, want. With being in college, we aren't used to having our parents around to nag us. They are good for your main source of money though (refer to number nine).
8. Meet new people.
Summer is the perfect time to expand your horizons and meet some new friends. You will be surprised the variety of different people you meet living in your hometown the whole time and you didn't even know it. Guarantee you will meet your best friend at your internship or job this summer.
9. Try not to spend all your money (unrealistic).
Key word: "try" But like c'mon there is a Chipotle a block away from me!
10. Take a weekend get away.
The whole point of summer is to have fun and don't take anything too serious. You have three months off to explore and travel. Take the weekend to Vegas or to Lake Tahoe or to camp out. Those trips will be the best of your life and that weekend will be the one to remember the most.
