Going Back to School, Told By 'Harry Potter'

We go through this every year. The end of summer & beginning of school. At least Harry Potter goes through the same thing.

Going Back to School, Told By 'Harry Potter'

Here we are again, another summer come and gone. It seems to go so quickly, yet so slowly at the same time. Despite that, I know that most people are dreading the idea of school and class and work again. We go through it every year, but it doesn't seem to get any easier. Summer has been a dream and now it is time to wake up. Here's a look at that cycle of transition from summer vacation to returning to school ... as shown by "Harry Potter."

1. When you're on summer vacation...

2. When someone starts to mention that school is coming back soon...

3. When you start to realize that school really is coming back within just a few weeks & that your summer is basically over...

4. When you realize that all you did was eat this summer and your "beach bod" is not ready to see all of your classmates, who you haven't seen for 3 months...

5. When you realize that you didn't do anything on your bucket list this summer, so you desperately try to pack the last few weeks with cool things to do...

6. When you start to own up to the idea of going back to school, and almost get excited about shopping for all new stuff (i.e. school supplies, dorm materials, etc.)

7. When you start to receive emails from professors with your textbook requirements and maybe even reading assignments...

8. When you have to pack all of your stuff up...

9. When you have to say goodbye to your parents, your house, and your pets for another semester...

10. When you see your friends again and know that it won't be SO bad...

11. When you see annoying people that you had tried hard to forget over the summer...

12. When you start classes and get bombarded with work...

13. When you sit in class & start counting down the days until your next break...

And thus, the cycle continues, year after year... always.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
