As of this past week it’s official. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have each earned the magic number of delegates for their respective parties.
I’ve always appreciated my right to vote, and I’m proud to say that I’ve voted in every primary and presidential election since I was of age to do so. Each time I have voted, I was confident in my choice for who I wanted in office.
As I look at the two prominent choices in candidacy for President of the United States, I find myself cringing.
On one end, there is a non-career politician who says ridiculous things that offend people. On the other end, there is the former First Lady, former senator and former Secretary of State, who often has her honesty questioned.
It’s almost certain that Clinton and Trump will be on the ballot come November, unless there’s a contested convention on the republican side because the ‘Stop Trump’ group have succeeded or Clinton is indicted because of her email scandal from her jaunt as Secretary of State.
As I typed those two sentences above, I literally thought to myself, “Could there be two worse choices for the future of America?”
Trump is perhaps the most un-presidential candidate I could imagine. His unpredictable rants and questionable comments frighten me because if he acts like that in front of potential voters, it raises the question of ‘will he act like that while negotiating with China, or North Korea?’ #Scary.
Clinton, while well-versed in the political game, is up for indictment for potentially endangering the security of the United States by using her personal email for governmental communications while she was Secretary of State. #AlsoScary.
These things make me scared for America’s future.
There are a handful of other things I could say about both candidates, but I’m not going to in hopes that you’ll go out and do your research about who you’ll vote for in November.
