My favorite show is Scandal and with all the drama and well, scandals there are definitely some life lessons learned through the past 6 seasons. With the show coming to an end, the last season will air next fall, here are some quotes I find very inspiring.

1) “If you want me, earn me!”

Know your worth, don't let anyone into your life unless they deserve you.

2) "You have to be twice as good as them to get half of what they have."

As a young African American female, I really took this to heart. It's true, you have to go above and beyond in order to make it in this world. But the same could be said for anyone.

3) "Now, you can dance with me or you can get off my dance floor. I'm fine dancing alone."

Basically, you can be with me or not. I'm okay either way. It's showing people that you are okay with yourself.

4) I'll be gracious out there. In here, I'll be spiteful and petty."

Behind closed doors, it's okay to be upset but show the world that you are powerful and gracious.

5) "Normal is overrated."

It's true. Be different and wild and creative and NOT NORMAL! It's okay.

6) "You are a Gladiator. Gladiators don't run, they fight. They slay dragons. They wipe off the blood. They stitch up their wounds. And they live to fight another day."

Now that you know what a Gladiator is, are you one?

7) "You have no idea what I'm capable of."

It's true. You don't know me. When I put my mind to something, I. AM. UNSTOPPABLE.

8) "Dirty little secrets always come out."

REMEMBER THAT! Everything you do and say will come out eventually so wise and careful.

9) You can't change the choice that you made. All you can do is not let it ruin you."

Don't dwell on your mistakes. Let them shape you into a better person, a stronger person.

10) "It's handled."

I've got this. You know the saying that it takes a woman to do a man's job...well it's true. We will take care of things and get stuff done. Just like Olivia Pope.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
