5 Reasons You Should Say Yes To Your Friends

If your friend asks you to hang out with them, say yes!

5 Reasons You Should Say Yes To Your Friends

There have been several times that a friend has wanted to hang out, and I just was not there for it. Instead, I made up an excuse as to why I could not go and remained in my bed watching Netflix - relatable, right? Those nights that I called it a night a little too early were definitely missed opportunities, and I wish I could go back so I could say yes.

Here's 5 reasons you should say 'yes!' to your friends!

It's a change of atmosphere

Being shut up in your room can get lonesome. The same four walls get pretty boring and dreadful which can lead to "fizzing out." While my friends can easily become a distraction, I feel like I am more productive when I am with them because the environment is different. Something as simple as working in your dorm lounge rather than your bedroom can make a huge difference. And sometimes, your friends just need you to be there as their motivating force!

Food is always a win but it's better when you're together

Often, my pals want to go grab a bite to eat. I know it can seem rather inconvenient, but it's really not that big of a deal for you to go out with them. No one said you had to order anything; the company can be enough. I have found myself in situations where I was hungry, but no one could go with me so I did not want to go out at all. Plus, a little midnight snack adventure can always freshen up your typical food schedule.

Be there to support each other

Maybe your amigo needs someone to be there with them, but they disguise it in a casual walk around Walmart. Sometimes you just have to be prepared to be a shoulder. And I know what you're thinking - if they're bothered, then they'll tell me because we're friends. Even best friends experience adversity that they don't exactly WANT to discuss. They might need a little coaxing, but they might not want to feel like a burden by asking if they unpack all their baggage.

That doesn't matter! Be there for your friends- be a safe zone for each other!

Trade entertainment recommendations or gossip

On a lighter note, getting together with a friend is a great time to compare this week's top hits on your playlists. Hanging out provides an easy chance to expand your entertainment taste. Perhaps there was a phenomenal movie this week that you just absolutely need to tell someone about. Why not your friend?

It's an opportunity to make some memories

Giphy

I've discovered that my favourite memories, my favourite pictures, and my favourite laughs have all come from the last minute "yes" that I offered my friends. I have cried in Whataburger at midnight, and I have screamed a the tops of my lungs in the car on the way home from Dallas at 3 AM. Those things would not have been possible if I had declined the offer.

Next time that it's easier to just stay at home, think about what you really have to lose by going out with your friends. Is it going to hurt you to say yes? Or, is it going to make your life a little bit more enjoyable?

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate.
