Why I am saying yes to saying no

In light of recent events, this is why I will no longer be replying to the refuting side

*If you are in need of a desperate reply, message me away from the public eye or write a response article.*

It took me twenty years to realize that saying yes to everything was making me a person I didn't want to be. I was quick to agree with others and follow. I wanted to be "easy to please", but really I made myself someone that was stepped on by everyone else.

I started saying no to things that didn't fit my morals and my views during the Fall of 2016, and it was the best choice I have ever made.

"No, I don't like that so I'm not going to promote it. No, this not what I stand for so I will not be agreeing with you this time. No, I don't think this is right, so count me out this time. No, this isn't how I think it should go, so I will not be present."

Some may see it as stubborn, but I will not change who I am and what I believe for you. I am the most open minded person you will meet - but when I am being pushed to a side that doesn't benefit everyone, believe me, I won't be supporting you.

I don't pick sides. I don't pick teams. My beliefs are circumstantial and all over the place. There is nothing wrong with that. I don't have to be with one party or the other because I am my own party.

Now, when I make an opinion whether it be in politics, education, or social status, I stick to it - I stand firm, and I hold my ground.

I will not be silenced for standing up for what is right. I will not be easily persuaded because once I have taken a stance on something - it means I have put a large amount of thought into it.

I am grateful that I am given the freedom to speak my mind about things that effect my life and others' lives negatively, for not everyone is given this right.

Therefore, I refuse to say yes and agree. I refuse to explain why I believe what I do. No, I don't owe you any explanation. No, I am not going to elaborate for you.

Take what you will from it or take nothing at all. My opinion is my own, and I may not have the rights to my own vagina anymore but I do have the rights to have an opinion and stick to it.

I will not hide. I stand with those that fear to live in the USA and those that can not leave or return.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
