Say it.

Life is too short to not say what you think.

14
Say it.

How many times have you thought of something you admire about someone, yet have held your tongue instead of telling them? "She is such a hard worker." "He has the kindest heart." "They are inspiring." -Thought bubbles that pop before they ever make their way out of our mouths.

In our society today, almost everyone is suffering from Awkward Silence Phobia- a real and threatening condition. Symptoms include avoiding doing things that are out of the ordinary or speaking your mind because risking the strange reaction or the scathing silence that may follow is too dangerous of a gamble. Now I'm no doctor, but my prognosis is that the world can be changed when we choose to speak up, awkward or not.

We all need words of affirmation. We need these positive thought warriors in our minds to combat the self-doubt when it tries to creep in. Speak your truth with as much abandon as a child. Adjust your filter to allow all of your light, compassion, and benevolence to flow freely.

Look, no one is a mind reader. Even when we think it may be totally obvious that someone knows how we feel about them, or how wonderful they are, there is always the chance of a miscommunication unless we are clear about the way we feel. Don't leave anything left to speculation, tell people how you feel about them. No one wastes their last breaths saying, "I wish I hadn't told my family I loved them more". Or, "I wish I hadn't forgiven my friend." So, be intentional with yours while your lungs are full of air and preach kindness into the atmosphere.

Tell the ones you love, you love them. Let those who have changed your life know how much they mean to you. Express to everyone their irreplaceable value. Even if you don't know someone, a little compliment can go a long way. So, to the cashier at McDonald's, your cheery voice made my day every time you already know, yes, I would love fries with that. To the lady who always dances on her way to class, you make me smile and put a little pep in my step, even at 8:30 in the morning. And to the gentleman who sits in front of me in Calculus, your makeup is beyond fierce.

Strap on your love vacuum and watch as you suck all the negativity out of our world. Because the next time she thinks "I'm just not smart enough," she'll remember your "you can do anything you put your heart into". And when he feels empowered to be himself, he will remember your encouragement and love that made him feel supported to do so. Release your positive energy like fireworks lighting up the world. Because your words make a difference. Your words can help someone, your thoughts will lie with you.

As incredible as it sounds, the world can be changed with each sound and syllable carried on the puffs of air we expel. Your words hold immense power, use them for good. Remember that if you change one person's world, you change the world. So, when you have love on your lips or an inclination for a kind exclamation, spread your love, proclaim that positivity, and say it.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
