Say Hello To The Future Me

Dear Mya,

This is a letter to you in seven years.

Hello to the future me in seven years. I hope you're doing very well, I gotta say you have been through hell and back as a child and overcame everything your junior year and now look at you. You're in college majoring in psychology and you love to help people and study their behaviors so they can get better. You are also a therapy mentor for kid and you do this because you've been through so much in your life so you want to help kids to do better and feel better. One thing you've learned was you have to rise above from all the problems and “keep your head up and heart open.”

Life isn’t perfect for anyone, you didn't have to be perfect to succeed in life like everyone was telling you. Doubting yourself on everything, you lost friends but they really weren't there for you when you were in high school regardless. You mostly had yourself but you learned from your mistakes. That's what all teenagers do, and most of all, you had conflicts with your mom but things got really better with you too.

You moved out when you were 19 because you wanted to be independent and explore the world by yourself. You moved and went to California not because you wanted to, but just because Pittsfield was a bad environment for you. It was filled with drama and bad people. Besides that, you aren't currently married. You date here and there but you don't really like to get attached to anyone because you like to focus on college and the kids you mentor. Men are just a big distraction for you in the future but you always get by in life.

When you were younger, you made a mistake with one guy but that mistake was a good one. God blessed you with a baby girl named me Mia Nicole Basinger. You raised her all by yourself because the father isn't in the picture anymore. That's why you don't date much because you don't want another man in Mia’s life because the other one let you down but besides that you are very happy right now. Yes, you had some down falls in your high school years and things were really rough for you but as a person you made it in life and fought your demons. Now, you are a better person and honestly you are one incredible young lady. You never let anyone bring you down and you also have a kind heart and staying strong is what you needed. Look where I got you, I can say how I am so proud of you every single day of your lifetime. I hope you become bigger and better it's just the beginning for your future and be prepared for many more journeys you have.

Just don't forget “Head up, Heart open."

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
