Say Goodbye To Resolutions

Stop making a list of everything you should've done last year.

Say Goodbye To Resolutions

Resolutions. I don’t know who came up with the idea, but I don’t like them. I love making lists, but this is one I really do not enjoy.

Every year people do it. You did it. I did it. Everyone does it. You make a list of everything you plan to do in order to make this year better than last. You decide to eat healthier, go to the gym more, read more, dance more. It’s a long list. You spend the first few weeks staying on track pretty well. But then what?

You don’t keep up with it. You eat a burger. You decide the couch is comfier than the gym. You forget where you left that book you wanted to finish. You still keep dancing, because that’s your excuse for not going to the gym. It’s a vicious cycle that we all end up doing. It’s pointless, honestly. We get so wrapped up in what we need to change about our routine and daily lives. Instead, we should focus on what we should keep the same. Keep dancing. Keep being happy. Keep being you. Don’t try to change yourself just because one number in the year changed.

Start your year off by thinking about how great the year will be. Look back at what you learned from the previous year, but don’t let that create fear for this year. Be ready for what the year has for you. Get excited for all the opportunities the year will bring. Make a list of the places you want to travel. Make a list of all the movies you want to see. Don’t make a list of how you want to eat or how often you should work out. Don’t make a list of why 2016 wasn’t your year.

Resolutions remind us of everything that we don’t want to do. Usually our resolutions are the same year after year. I always want to work out more. I always want to make more time for myself. I always do it. For about two weeks. The only things I keep up with are the resolutions that include Netflix or reading, so I gave up on resolutions a couple years ago. I started to make a list of monthly things I wanted to do, hoping to continue to do them throughout the year. If I can get through a month of doing it, then I’ll keep going. If not, then it’s a lost cause.

Don’t get your hopes up people, but dance it out when you get stressed. Don't get mad when you don't stick to a resolution. Just let it be and move onto the next one. Eat whatever you want. Enjoy time for yourself. Oh and watch lots of Gilmore Girls.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
