I'm not a fan of rap. I never have been and never will be; at least not in the traditional sense. I can't stand the senseless usage of the N-word, promotion of drugs and violence and the terrible things said about women and other minorities.
That being said, Prince Ea is most definitely an exception. In his more recent material, Prince Ea has been addressing environmental and social issues in a style all his own. There's none of the usual racial slurs and warbling of words. No, this man just exercises his right to the first amendment and speaks; he speaks using powerful words and phenomenal alliteration. Watch the video to get an idea:
That's just a taste of the awesomeness that is Prince Ea. His work is a rather recent discovery for me, but I can't get enough! How wonderful is it to use music as an outlet to spread awareness about the issues our world has instead furthering what is already in place.
So go forth, and be more than just "kinda." Because you and your dreams are worth the risk.
I also feel the need to highlight his video "Dear Future Generations: Sorry." Instead of sitting here talking about the terrible things that are happening to the earth, let's do something about it. There doesn't need to be a reason to apologize, because we still have time to make changes that will sustain the world for generations to come. Watch it, love it, absorb it, do something about it.
P.S. You should check out his YouTube channel for more inspiration.
