Everyone enjoys a good Netflix binge, every once in a while. But, if you aren't careful, that binge can turn into a real problem. We all know those people. They're four seasons deep into a nine season series. For whatever reason, they've lost all touch with the outside world. You probably haven't heard from them in a few days. At first you thought they weren't returning your texts because they were busy doing things with their lives. But now you know what they're doing. They've reached a critical stage in the bingeing process: this is the point of no return and it is up to you to stop them. So, this is a helpful guide to help your friend come back from the edge.
1. Helping them through the denial
When you first approach your friend you'll probably be met with a response much like the one above. "It's only for a few days," they'll say. But, you've got to be strong. You know better.
2. Turn off the TV or laptop
This may not work at first. They'll try to stop you. This is a key step in their journey to rehabilitation.
3. Talk them through the grief
Of course they're going to be sad! You just cut them off from their own little fantasy world. Will Haley pick Nathan or Chris? Will Rachel get off the plane?! They'll never know!!! It's your job to assure them that it isn't the end of the world.
4. Deal with the anger
Once they're past sadness, they're going to get mad....at you. You cut them off!!! Now they really will not know if Haley picked Nathan or if Rachel got off the plane. HOW DARE YOU!?! The best option now is to just quietly sit there and take it--you're doing it for their best interest.
5. Give them a hug
They've been through a wave of emotions today; they deserve a hug. Let them know everything was going to be alright.
6. Seriously?! You let them have their laptop back!??!?
Seriously...That's just stupid. You've ruined it.
