Which makeup products are worth it?

Makeup products have the power to transform your face. So it’s important to know which ones work and which ones do not. Although the price of a makeup product does not correlate with it’s quality, there are many high end products that are worth the hole in your wallet. Then there are also affordable makeup products that are worth the money.

Splurge

Highlighters

There are actually not many highlighters in the drugstore. That’s why highlighters are worth the money. The color pay off is unbelievable. My favorite highlighters are from Sephora. Anything from Becca to Bobbi Brown, will do the job.

Eyeshadow Primer

Again, these are pretty nonexistent in the drugstore. There are millions of primers in Sephora, but my favorite is from MAC. The paint pots create a blank canvas for your eyeshadow and makes it lasts all day. If you don’t invest in a primer, your eyeshadow will not look on point.

Eyeshadow Palettes

It seems quite overwhelming knowing the amount of eyeshadow palettes that are on the market. Most of them are worth it, and worth the price. If you think about a palette that holds 12 eyeshadows, most of the single shadows cost less than ten dollars in that palette. My favorite palettes are the Naked, Tartelette in Blooom 2 and Kat Von D’s Shade and Light Eye palette.

Lip Products

I do own many drugstore lip products, but they don’t feel the same as a high end lip product. Lip products are my favorite makeup product and tend to be the most affordable. The OG lipstick is the MAC lipstick. With the vanilla scent and smooth texture, you can’t go wrong purchasing these. They are also under twenty dollars.

Save

Foundation

All of my foundations I own are from the drugstore. They do the same job as a high end foundation and are a fraction of the cost. My all time go to foundation is the Loreal Infallible Pro Matte foundation. This is the foundation I wear when I go out, and let me tell you, it stays on. I could sleep with this and it will still look good the morning after.

Eyeliner

Eyeliner is a type of makeup product that needs to be updated frequently since they dry out and expire quickly. The Loreal Lineur Intense Felt liquid liner is your best best. The line is ultra black and does not smudge or move throughout the night. The felt tip makes it easier to draw the line.

Mascara

Mascaras need to be thrown out every three months, so why spend a ton on them if they just have to be placed in the trash can? Drugstore mascara does an even better job than some high end mascaras.

Eyebrow Products

Many people differ in how they shape and fill in their eyebrows but drugstore products work very well in this instance. The NYX Micro Eyebrow Pencil is an exact dupe for the Anastasia Brow Whiz. They even have the same ingredients.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
