Whether you plan to visit the Oklahoma State Fair, Tulsa State Fair, or the Texas State Fair this year... one night of sketchy rides and fried food can leave you broke. Here are some quick tips and tricks on how to get there, get in, and get your fill of the fun FOR CHEAP!
Getting there
Whether you're going on a date or going with your group of friends, carpool! It's an easy way to save gas especially if everyone chips in a few bucks.
We've all dealt with the hassle of fair parking… one year my boyfriend and I got the car towed dealing with parking. NOT FUN. If you don't feel like burning up gas driving in circles trying to find a spot, no worries. Most fairs offer a shuttle service or you could even park for free in a nearby neighborhood. Heck, some neighbors might even charge cheaper rates to park at their house. There are acres and acres of FREE parking available, located on both the north and south sides of the property. Handicapped parking is available at most gates. Paid parking and season parking is accessible from NW 10th Street, May Avenue and Reno Avenue.
Want to give your tired feet a break? Hop on board one of the FREE trams at the Oklahoma State Fair and Tulsa State Fair. Trams operate daily.
The Texas State Fair accommodates guests with DART, Trinity Railway Express, Denton County A-Train as well as an Uber drop-off/pick-up location.
Discount Admission
There are tons of ways to save money on admission at any State Fair, from early-bird purchases to special discount days. Here are some great options:
Most fairs have a Dr. Pepper Deal. Bring in a Dr. Pepper can and you can get an extremely cheap admission that way.
McDonalds Coupons are available at most locations and can get you a great price!
Buying tickets online are guaranteed to be cheaper.
Know anyone in the military or are you in the military? They do discounts for them as well.
