Best friends are crucial. I'm fortunate to have the craziest/most diverse clique of them all: Scruffy Seals. The era of memes has only added to our group's humor. Particularly with one my closest buds, Gabe. Gabe is an all-around typical guy. He wants to be a dentist. This is the problem.

Gabe is the kid who rationalizes science over anything. A year ago, the internet rallied against a dentist from Minnesota who slayed a lion. Walter Palmer killed Cecil the lion and this sparked a fire to the Scruffy Seals cause known as: Save Gabe.
What started as a gag has become become a movement in the Twin Cities. "Save Gabe" is a cause to bring awareness of friends' loved ones who could fall down the pits of a dentist's life. Is it really going to change anything? No, probably not. But at end of the day, it's a best friend's job to look out for their crew and that's what we do. A year later, Gabe is ending his first year as a grad student in the dental program and people reflect on the anniversary of Cecil the Lion's death. So remember, friends don't let friends be dentists. Pass it on.
