Bes being placed on the Endangered species list is a call for action

When someone says spring what do you think of? Do you think of flowers, birds chirping? Leaves budding on the trees? Free Rita’s? Green grass growing? If you said bees buzzing then do I have some bad news for you. Bees were recently added to the endangered species list. Do you know wat this means for the world? If anything it is a wakeup call for all of us. This is what the world would be like if we don’t do something to save the bees.

Bees have a crucial part of the ecosystem which is to pollinate plants. If the plants aren’t pollinated then the fruit and crops aren’t produced. That’s a lot of plants and vegetables that we enjoy that depend on the pollination of bees. This means that if they go extinct that we won’t only lose bees we will lose all the fruits and vegetables like strawberries, pumpkins, and apples.

They also pollinate herbs, grasses, and flowers. You may ask why should I care. It isn’t like I am a florist? I don’t use herbs with anything. Flowers are a staple in today’s society being used for weddings, parties, and occasions like proms. They are what people give someone who is or who graduated or after a concert performance.

Bees produce beeswax and honey which are key parts of many products that we use. Many people put honey in their tea, make into candy like lollipops, and use beeswax in hardware and candles. We would lose all these products if bees go extinct.

When I think of a world without bees I think of the movie Wallie. In the movie the world becomes so polluted and covered with trash that is deemed unlivable ad they go and live in space while these little robots clean up the earth. Over time only one robot survives and cleans the earth that looks like a wasteland with dilapidated buildings and mountains of trash. That is what I think will happen if we keep doing what we are doing. As I see it we have two options here.

One, we can just ignore and let this happen and let the bees potentially go extinct and lose everything we have because of bees. Two, we can start doing stuff to help the bees. We can plant plants that can help them. These plants include herbs like Thyme. you can also invest in your own mason hive.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
