Savannah Montano: A Role Model To All Young Females

As a young woman, I naturally look for people to look up to. I’m not too heavy on social media, but whenever I’m on there, I find myself looking at the same few people. It’s easy to follow along with certain celebrities, especially when they are constantly posting on their social media accounts and you can follow their lives as if you know them personally.

Savannah Montano is a 19-year-old entrepreneur from South Florida that I've been following closely since she emerged into the Internet. Now, she's not what I would call "famous" but she is definitely on the way to creating a small empire of a business seeing she has become more successful than most at her age. She has her own clothing line, website, and has a following of over one million people on Instagram, and over 600 thousand on Twitter.

She started off as a blogger on Tumblr, posted on the six-second video app, Vine, and created cute and bibbly YouTube videos of herself and her boyfriend when she was probably around fifteen years old. It seemed like her big group of friends blew up on the Internet world and everyone seemed to care about these people. They were stylish, wealthy, and they seemed to have pretty decent lives.

Savannah exploded with Internet fame far more than anyone else did. She's known for her small physique and her interesting but beautiful features. She uploads fitness videos and what she eats in a day to her Snapchat (savmontanox) because her following is obsessed with what she does in a day. She has recently turned pescatarian (diet of no meat, only fish) and has also cut out dairy and eggs. Montano is now shining a new light and using her following to introduce people to this new lifestyle of less cruelty to her body and the environment. She is vocal about how animals are harmed and is looking into going full-on vegan. This is no doubt the most exciting thing she has done so far. To use your high following for good is very respectful if I do say so myself.

Her clothing line, Disruptive Youth, was created sometime in 2014. Montano always had an interesting, decadent style, simple but also classy with some beach flare. Her style was so popular that she decided to create this website full of what she would wear when it comes to clothing, jewelry, and other accessories.

Now, she posts almost daily to social media. She uploads YouTube videos with her boyfriend, Jessey Stevens, who is a male model.

She is becoming one of the Internet’s most famous young adults, using her voice to spread positive messages and expressing herself through body positivity and genuine joy.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
