For some of us, sarcasm runs through our veins like blood. Without thinking, sarcasm comes naturally to me, rolling right off my tongue. To some, we lighten the mood of any conversation; but to others, we come across as smartasses and usually just smirk about it, giving a little shrug of the shoulders.
Sarcasm has become more and more popular, especially in the younger generation. Think about it: pop culture has given us some of the best sarcasm, from actors and actresses to comedians and social media gods. For example, Jennifer Lawrence, one of America's sweethearts, can be seen at any award shows using sarcasm to make fun of herself.
In "Arrow", Felicity Smoak brings not only amazing intellectual abilities, but also some killer wit when dealing with Oliver and in "Friend's", Chandler dishes out more than his fair share of sarcasm.
If you, like the people above, really speak fluent sarcasm, you know these things all too well:
1. Answering a simple "yes" or "no" question with an eye roll and a side of sarcasm
"No", "Absolutely not", and "Never in a thousand years," or "Yeah", "Totally", and "Cause that makes sense" are among the common remarks in your repertoire. The question may have sounded stupid to you or maybe you were mad. Either way, you made someone smirk or hate you in a matter of seconds.
2. Constantly explaining that you're just joking
Sometimes your sarcasm is so strong that people take it to heart, even though it made you laugh.
3. Wearing your opinion on your sleeve or face
4. Judging someone as soon as you make eye contact
You may have never seen the person before or may not even know their name, but as soon as you see something worth mocking, your brain has come up with so many comments that before you realize it, have come out of your mouth
5. Being either the first or last option for comforting
Since you have trouble controlling how your feelings are portrayed, if someone is looking for a soothing shoulder to cry on, don't expect your phone to ring. However, if your friend is looking for some tough love or someone to make them laugh, I hope you're on speed dial.
6. To your friends and family, you're not sarcastic because it's necessary for you to keep breathing and keeps you alive
You might not be good at saying the nicest things, but when you want to, you can come up with some remarks that only hurt a little or work some magic and use so much sarcasm that it becomes sincere.
7. A slow clapping moment is the highlight of your day
After days and years of drawing a blank whenever you used sarcasm, they finally understood it.
8. People tell you constantly that you are rude, but trying to turn off your sarcasm is like trying to stop a tsunami, impossible
Censoring your comments to make sure someone doesn't get hurt is sometimes just too much, and if people think you have a bad attitude, so be it.
9. Putting up a wall when you feel any emotion because you're definitely not human
