Samsung's Battle For A Better Reputation

Samsung has gotten a lot of shame for releasing a smartphone that can explode and many consumers have begun to doubt Samsung's product quality.

As of late, everyone knows the 2.5 million phone recall for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. It was supposed to be Samsung’s newest renovated smartphone and unfortunately things did not go as planned. There have been over 100 reported incidents of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phone catching on fire and has led to the phone’s recall. This has caused Samsung to lose over 5 billion dollars in profit. Samsung believes that there was a fault with the lithium-ion batteries that were supplied for the new phone, however they are not entirely sure and have begun investigations. This past Tuesday Samsung has stopped production and sales of the Galaxy Note 7 device, 2 months after its first release. For Samsung to gain the public’s trust once again it will cost them a lot, not just the money to recall all the phones and the forgone production and sales costs as well. Plus, Samsung will lose business for all its other products as well because consumers question Samsung’s quality as well.

Samsung has a battle on its hands to rebuild its reputation. They are at a risk to lose profit, its loyal consumers, and brand equity. For other large corporations like Samsung, brand equity is one of the most valuable assets to a company. In my opinion, the only thing that will boost Samsung’s reputation is by building other new smartphones that are reliable and have revolutionary new features, just like the virtual reality headsets that Samsung has made for its phones. However, yes at first Samsung’s phones may not have as great sales as its prior phones, overtime if they are consistent and true to their brand then sales may rise once again.

Yes, for now Samsung’s profits and consumer levels have gone down but as time goes on profits and consumers will come back to them eventually. Samsung needs to have a sense of urgency to find the problem behind its Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones and make it known to the public. We currently do not officially know the problems with the phones other then there supposedly being something wrong with their batteries. We need an official statement from Samsung making known the issues with the smartphone. Samsung should also compensate its consumers that bought the phones and apologize to them too. If Samsung wants to keep its loyal customers that bought these devices they should also think of sending vouchers for a new product that they are preparing to bring to the public or a new free phone as well.

Samsung as a company needs to also grow as well. They need to grow by regaining their market share and to do so they need to gain more customers’ confidence in their company. Hopefully, overtime customers will gain more faith in Samsung and they can fully recover as a technology giant.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
