Friends That Are "The Same, But Different"

Having a best friend who is so much like you but still their own person is a pretty phenomenal thing.

In freshman year of high school, I met a girl who gave me the friendship you see in movies. We would do everything together and I knew I could trust her with anything. She also gave me more than just a cinema-worthy friendship. She gave me the confidence to be myself because she is just as strange as I am and she gave me the safety to be weird around her when the rest of the would couldn't handle it. We have the same bizarre interests, think similar awkward thoughts that we wouldn't dare say out loud to anyone else, and can relate to many of each other's unique quirks. Often, we were told that we were "the same, but different," as if to say we could almost be the same person, but we still have our own lives and identities. I imagine that there are other best friend pairs out there who can relate to the wonderful feeling of having someone who truly gets you.

1. They’re always down to take part in your shenanigans.

2. When they're not down, you make them tag along anyways.

3. You have a go to handshake.

It could be anything from a classic fist bump to something more along the lines of rapidly high-fiving and making noises that resemble mating dolphins.

4. They’re always there to give you a genuine compliment.

5. They know how to make you feel better about a horrible situation.

6. They don’t judge you for the weird stuff you’re into (because they’re into it too).

They don't really have any room to judge you here because they're into the same strange things if not some stranger things.

7. Others may think you’re fighting, but that’s just how you show affection.

8. They know your weaknesses and help you get through them.

9. Advice may not be their specialty but they’ll help you out any way they can

Even if all they can do at the moment is put a smile on your face, they try their hardest.

10. You can’t get rid of them. Even if sometimes you really want to.

They've been around way too long for you to just give them the boot. This friendship isn't going down without a fight. In fact, it's probably never going down. Not if the other half has a say in it, at least. You most likely feel the same way too, so it's okay.

11. They’re the one thing that is constant in an unstable world.

The world is constantly changing and it's a pretty scary place. But at the end of the day, you have their back and they have yours. The two of you can get through anything if you're going at it together.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
