Here’s the story
Of a girl named Sally
I haven’t told a soul
So here goes; I’ll tell the world
Sally was a beaut
Probably still is
Kind and funny
Adorably geeky and naturally pretty
The kind you bring home to Mommy and Daddy
Then out to the city for dinner and drinks
And a late night stroll down the small town streets
You see, Sally was unique
And a flirt she was, too!
The cause of which I attributed to
Her and her lover
Were together not a whole
So she sought validation
And an end to frustration
By finding another to love and to hold
One night we were out, Sally and I
Out for some drinks after a night full of pie
There was a group of us folks
Being merrily drunk
This night in particular my lover and I
Were also in a funk
And were for some time
You see Sally saw through me
And my silly façade
And I knew her real smile
From that fake one she had
Sally knew my girl
And I knew her boy too
But neither of us cared
In the heat of the moment
Or even the few hours before
We made our way back to my place
For late night drinks, and a smoke or a toke
We knew not where the night would take us
Except outside time and space
We sat on the couch and talked for awhile
‘Till eventually I saw that smile
Shortly thereafter we were in bed
Fully clothed for the moment
But that moment would end
Sooner or later, we wound up together
But that night that we shared
Would haunt me forever
