Not To Brag, But Sagittarius Is The Best Zodiac Sign And Here's Why

It's always Sagittarius season.

As the Earth orbits around the Sun, the Sun follows a celestial plane known as the ecliptic. When this imaginary sphere surrounding the sun is broken down into 30-degree segments, it creates 12 zones with names we know today as zodiac signs.

The ninth and most important zone is named for its famous constellation where the stars represent a centaur in the sky, as well as the zodiac sign named after it, Sagittarius.

In terms of Chinese Astrology, which is based on time span rather than space, Sagittarius' are those born between November 23 and December 21.

I'm going to make a bold claim here, but Sagittarius' truly have the better making than any of the other 11 recognized zodiac signs, and in classic fashion, I have evidence to back this up.

Our symbol is pretty bada**

If you're like me, you look through a telescope and see a bunch of stars scattered without purpose throughout the sky. If you're an astrologist, you may look in the same place I just viewed two-minutes prior and tell me the barely-there ball of fire in the sky I had quickly scanned over actually made up the image of a centaur (according to Greek mythology that is).

Although a full centaur would take Sagittarius status to the next level, the symbol of an arrow is the perfect representation of all things Sagittarius.

You say weakness, I say strength.

What one zodiac website calls a weakness, I find to be a strength. Sure, Sagittarius' are known for having a hard time finding a focus in life, but that doesn't necessarily mean we're all diagnosed with ADD or struggling to hold a conversation without getting distracted. Well, I'm guilty of that one, but I don't think it has anything to do with my zodiac sign.

Personally, I believe an inability to focus makes us adaptable and curious. We're a group that likes to take on a lot of projects, even if completing them all is a bit unrealistic. We're also a group of people that like constant movement and new challenges. Now tell me, what is so weak about that?

We win in representation by elements.

When it comes to elements, our representation is not only fitting but destructive, a bit like some of our personality traits. We're known for being childish on some occasions, with a sarcastic and fun outlook in situations when we're meant to be serious. Like fire, we're also known for being unpredictable and inconsistent.

On a more positive note, Sagittarius' are always evolving and looking to take on something new, much like the flames of fire as they spread. Our personalities are contagious and interesting even though a bit hard to understand at sometimes.

Descriptive traits include...

The list of adjectives used to describe Sagittarius' includes optimistic, enthusiastic, adventurous, independent and another that I'm not afraid to admit: outspoken. There's definitely a time and a place for that last one, and more times than not it's something that takes awhile to get a hold on, however, those proceedings seem to be fairly good alternatives to me.

At first, even I found the stone representation of this zodiac to be disappointing...

My grandmother is a Sagittarius, and when I was nine-years-old she handed down a collection of gold rings with topaz stones inlaid. As a kid, I was embarrassed by the color and jealous of those around me that got to claim emerald and pearl as their stone. However, the older I got, the more I came to love and wear the symbol of my zodiac sign.

Overall strengths include...

Sagittarius' are commonly described as following an adventurous lifestyle. We're always on the go, whether in the workplace, moving cities or balancing thoughts. A Sagittarius soul thrives to learn, do and see more in life.

We get restless easily and need changes thrown our way in order to feel satisfied in life. It's hard to tie a Sagittarius down to one thing for the rest of their life, which is why jobs that allow for creativity and opportunity to change positions or locations are often favored.

In terms of signs we're compatible with, we come out on top.

In love and friendship, we find our compatibility with star signs Aries, Leo, Libra, and Gemini. Since Aries are known for being bullheaded and straight forward, their relationship with Sagittarius' thrive. Together, the sometimes blunt Sagittarius and Aries get along well and can always be honest with each other.

Leo's are loyal and known for their energetic personality which allows them to keep up with the sometimes flighty tendencies we have as Sagittarius'. Having a Libra around is the perfect way to balance out a Sagittarius' emotions and talk some sense into them when they're getting too caught up in the next thing rather than living in the moment. Much like Leo's and Sagittarius', Gemini's have an enthusiastic and positive personality that attracts positivity, while they also have an inability to remain consistent, making them an understanding friend to have.

Maybe we don't have the best track records in the romance department, but it probably has to do with us not being able to figure out what we want in life.

The curiosity for new things doesn't just end in the department of work and friendships for Sagittarius's. Instead, we also carry this trait into the dating world, making it historically difficult to settle down because our personalities make it hard to make final decisions on anything.

I'm not saying that all Sagittarius' are serial daters or afraid of commitment, I'm just expressing that a Sagittarius needs someone who is understanding of their restless outlook on life.

I get that celebrities are "just like us" but I still like to make a point that I share the same ruling planet with these Hollywood Stars.

DJ Khalid, Brad Pitt, Walt Disney and Frank Sinatra? I'm sold.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
