Ever since elementary school, when it was mandatory to give out valentines to everyone in the class, and you had that cute mailbox, and you'd give the best valentine from your pack to your best friend or the person you had a crush on, it's been kinda a weird holiday.
I've honestly never lost that feeling of happiness and love that I got from such a long time ago. I tried hard to hate the holiday but it takes so much energy to hate on people in love or experiencing love. I feel like, even if you give your cat some extra catnip on Valentine's Day, then you definitely know your cat loves you back.
Why must Valentine's Day be solely based on being in a committed and long-term romantic relationship?
There's also the argument that the day is based off of capitalism and it's a "card holiday" blah blah blah. But who cares really?? Why wouldn't you want to eat the heart shaped Reese's (aka the best ones of the year)? And, you might even be the person who buys the candy the day after, so... what's there to be bitter about?
If you've ever received one of my valentines, I'm sure you know I love the holiday. It's so cute and so special. The best way to not be sad on Valentine's Day is to think about all the people you care about, all the things you love, and maybe eat a couple of cupcakes.
You're loved and deserve everything that happens on Valentine's Day every day of the year.
