A Sad Soul In A Harsh World

What's happening out there?

Between mass shootings, Black Lives Matter, war and the pending presidential election, it's understandable to be overwhelmed. I know I am. There seems to be no right side to pick, and voicing your opinion is always a mistake because of the backlash. I am absolutely not very well-versed in every aspect of the world, and I would never pretend like I am, but what I do know and understand makes me feel very scared.

What's happening out there? It's so strange to go from being in a small town where everything seems so normal to reading of something new that's going wrong with the world every day. You can't help but wonder when the hurricane of hate is going to hit your home. Are we creating this world for us, or were we doomed to try and withstand the falling walls around us when we were born? What is being created for our children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and young cousins to experience? What kind of world will they live in? When we were young, a computer wasn't even a household item, and now we carry them in our back pockets. Imagine how much more the world is going to change by the time our children are creating more children.

How the world changes depends on how we treat it now. Who we elect to lead us, how we treat our neighbors and how we teach morals. I don't know what to do but embrace who we are, embrace who our neighbors, embrace the cultures that are spinning around us. We need love, you guys. We need hope, joy and happiness. We need to paint the skies blue and focus on what matters. We are America. We determine what happens in our home. I'm done with judging, and I will offer my help to anyone who needs it regardless of age, race, gender or religion. Our world needs more compassion.

We need to bring hope back to a hopeless world.

I'm scared, and I have a feeling a lot of you are, too. I don't have a solution to magically fix the world and make it a better place, but I do know that even with the smallest actions, we can create better moments. Better moments that can help brighten a strangers day. What we create today can lead to be a better future for all of us. So help me, help each other, help Mother Nature. We are so much more than this. Set aside your differences, and prove that we still have hope, for our generation, the generation under us and all the generations to come. I know this won't fix anything, but imagine if ever one cared just a little bit more about everyone around them. Imagine what that could do for someone.

Make love, not war. Make hope, not hate.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
