Sometimes you really just need to zone out and listen to some sad songs for awhile. I've gathered some of the greatest sad songs throughout the years and I thought it was finally time to share the songs that have turned my bad days around.

1. Liability - Lorde

“She’s so hard to please, but she’s a forest fire” is probably the greatest lyric of all time. This song is so raw and pure. Lorde puts the feelings we have all had when people leave our lives into a beautiful song.

2. A Little Too Much - Shawn Mendes

I always find myself listening to this song when I’m overwhelmed by school, work, or just life in general. Sometimes you simply have to put on your headphones and let yourself be overdramatic by blasting this song on repeat.

3. She Will Be Loved - Maroon 5

Me and my friend have a running joke that She Will Be Loved is the perfect song for every “blah” moment. While extremely mainstream, this song knows how to hit every heartstring.

4. Why Am I The One - Fun

This has been my go-to sad song for as long as I could remember. Not many people seem to know this song which is unfortunate because it has helped me through every dark time in my life. You could really relate this song to any situation, which I think is what makes it so great.

5. Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales - Car Seat Headrest

I honestly have no idea what this song is about. However, the voices and rhythms throughout this song immediately calm me down. It’s simply a beautiful song that deserves an endless amount of recognition.

6. Sign of the Times - Harry Styles

How could I make a list of sad songs without including my favorite song of 2017? This song has taught me that whatever is happening in life at the moment, it will pass and IT WILL GET BETTER! It’s just a “sign of the times” and everything will come together again.

7. Runaway - Kanye West

A song for when you feel like you’re not good enough. You wouldn’t associate Kanye West with conveying emotion, but he does it with this song.

8. Almost Lover - A Fine Frenzy

Another song that I’ve listened to for years. While I don’t have much experience with relationships, this song still hits all the feels for me. One day I will go through a breakup, and blast this song on repeat for weeks.

9. Landslide - Fleetwood Mac

I’ve been singing along to the line “I’m getting older too” since I was sixteen, really relating to it. Now I look back to when I was sixteen and realize I was a baby. Basically, this song makes you feel really old which is emotional.

10. Maybe IDK- Jon Bellion

For when you feel like you don’t know what you’re doing with your life. We’ve all felt that way and Jon Bellion puts the feelings into words.

11. Girls Your Age - Transviolet

Guys are confusing jerks and this song really gives a reality check of what’s truly important.

12. She Used to be Mine - Sara Bareilles

For when you thought you knew someone (or yourself) and they’ve changed right before your eyes.

13. Hear Me - Imagine Dragons

If you’re like me, you bottle up your feelings and try your hardest to not let anyone know you’re upset. However, sometimes you just burst and this song describes that feeling.

14. Details in the Fabric - Jason Mraz (feat. James Morrison)

“Hold your own, know your name, and go your own way” is sometimes the most inspiring line. Listening to this song when having anxiety is sometimes the cure-all method for me.

15. I Will be Found (Lost at Sea) - John Mayer

This song is simply for when you feel lost at sea. I listen to this when I just feel a little off or confused. It’s an encouraging song that everyone should listen to.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
