We all get in this mood of sadness every now and then. You know, the one where you feel like letting every single tear go. Sometimes, we all just need a real good cry. I mean like sobbing. There's nothing wrong with getting in your pajamas, pouring a glass or two of wine, and watching a great movie that makes your tear ducts explode. And though Netflix can sometimes be home to some strange movies, they've definitely stepped up their game for tear-jerkers. Here are some of the most cry-worthy movies I've watched recently. You're welcome.
1. "Atonement"
GiphyThis movie was incredible and shows how one lie can affect many peoples' lives. It's a very sad film, but the music was beautiful and the storytelling is what stuck out to me after watching it. If you love James McAvoy, then you need to see him in this role. If you don't love him, then do yourself a favor and log onto Netflix immediately. You will definitely be sobbing, but it's 100% worth it.
2. "The Family Man"
GiphyYou don't know what you have until it's gone. Not many people like Nicholas Cage, but I think he did great in this movie. You can obviously tell by the title that it's about family, and by the end, you'll be appreciative of yours. If you need a great reminder to be grateful for what you have, then this movie will get you there. That is, after you cry.
3. "Seven Pounds"
GiphyIf the other options didn't make you cry, I promise you this will make you cry like you didn't know you could. If not, then you may want to check if you have a heart. Seriously. This movie has such a powerful ending and message. Plus, Will Smith is the main character, and if that doesn't make you want to watch it even a little, then something might be wrong with you. Just remember how moving he was in "The Pursuit of Happyness."
4. "Coco"
GiphyI've heard the hype about this film since it came out and knew I had to watch it as soon as it was streaming on Netflix.
My. Goodness.
It was such a great movie and tears were streaming down my face by the end. Maybe it just hit me more because parts of the movie rang true for me because of how my family is like, but I loved everything about it. The characters are so much fun to watch and the soundtrack is amazing, too. You won't be disappointed.
I hope some of these options help you cry your eyes out. I have cried like a baby watching these movies, some multiple times, but I never get tired of the stories each film tells. Remember to always put your mental health first, and know that's it's completely OK to let the waterworks pour every now and then. Doing so can actually be really healthy and make you feel better immediately. And oh, thanks Netflix for these amazing movies that serve as the perfect outlet.
