Filled with this new found spirit of joy, Mrs. Powercouple continues walking around town, finding that her pace is leading her towards the local playground. Taking a seat at an available bench facing the children, she acknowledges the beauty in their innocence. So free, serious, goofy, and trusting all summed up in one motion, "beautiful" she spoke without a thought. When a grunt from the other side of the bench catches her attention, humming to himself in distress while flipping through the news paper.
"That bad, huh" Mrs. P reaches out to the man. Forcing his paper to his lap, she was able to get a glimpse of this mysterious character. He was quite elderly and you could tell his bitterness towards the world not only from the permanent frown imprinted on his face or the fact that he's grunting at a local news paper, but also because of where his wrinkles creased in under his eyes and on his forehead. "This world is going to hell I tell you, only the good get killed while the scums get praised, I can't wait until I leave this God forsaken world."
"What happened to you?" Speaking from her heart without a thought, she realizes after how forward she must of sounded. "Excuse me? You have no idea what I've been through miss and I have no business telling you either." "I know I don't, I'm sorry, it's just I've been through a lot myself and today was kind of my wake up call to start enjoying the shit I dwell on. It's more of a perception thing, rather then degree of distress I guess." She replies.
"You are still young so you can make up for your distress, as for me, well I'll tell you this, the moment I buried my 25 year old son, was the day I gave up enjoying anything." Freezing in the motion of her intense gaze to his eyes he continues. "You seem like a nice woman ma'am so I wouldn't want to bring down your day, but take my advice and enjoy every second you can with the ones you love, because the only thing worse then losing someone, is losing someone you at one point pushed away." Still frozen now with a tear formed in her eye, the old man kisses Mrs. P on the forehead and continues walking through the park.
