I was a part of the anti-Trump protest in Richmond, Virginia last night, and from what I've seen in the news, they are only showing the most violent of people involved. Out of the 1,000 people who marched, only ten people were arrested. At several points, some protesters started to try to deface public property and other protesters convinced them to stop and stay peaceful. When our group would pass police cars, protesters would shout out for people to not scream at police or touch their police cars. The protest was mostly civil and the Richmond police did their best to protect us when we took over the highway. They blocked off roads for us, they protected us and our right to peacefully protest. When we got back into the city, there was a line of firefighters shaking protesters' hands, and the protesters were thanking them for their service. The people who went back to sit on the highway afterwards and were arrested were only a small part of our protest, and didn't necessarily embody all of our views and opinions.

Despite what the media is saying, this protest was a peaceful one.
